Fibroids and Mood: 5 Simple Ways to Feel Better

If you live with fibroids, you’ll know the toll they take - not just physically but emotionally too. Pain, bloating, fatigue, and frustration can all chip away at your mood. And when your mood drops? Your symptoms often feel heavier, your energy plummets, and even small things start to feel like a mountain.
As a Health Coach who supports women living with fibroids, I see this all the time. Mood and energy are deeply connected - and both play a big role in how your body manages stress, hormones, and inflammation (all of which affect fibroids).
The good news? You can lift your mood and support your fibroid health through simple daily choices. These aren’t about perfection - they’re small, realistic steps that help your body (and your mind) just feel more in balance.
1. Move Your Body (Even When You Don’t Feel Like It)
When fibroid pain or fatigue hits, moving might feel impossible. But gentle movement - a slow walk, stretching, or even a kitchen dance between tasks 💃🏾 - helps release endorphins, boosts circulation, and eases cramps. Movement isn’t punishment; it’s medicine for your mood and your uterus.
2. Food Affects Your Mood (and Fibroids Too)
There’s a strong link between what you eat and how you feel. Colourful veg, berries, dark leafy greens, oily fish, and protein-rich meals can stabilise blood sugar and support hormone balance - which in turn can reduce inflammation and mood swings. Think: food that loves your gut and your fibroids.
3. Breathe Away the Stress

Stress is one of the sneakiest drivers of fibroid symptom spikes. When you feel overwhelmed, your body produces more cortisol - and that can throw hormones further out of balance. Try the 4-7-8 breathing method: inhale for 4, hold for 7, exhale for 8. Do this for just a few minutes, and notice the calm that follows.
4. Make Time for Joy
Pain can steal your spark, so it’s important to reclaim moments that lift your spirit. Whether it’s music, a hobby, or chatting with someone who gets it - joy has healing power. Schedule it like an appointment. You deserve to feel good 😃
5. Feed Your Gut, Feed Your Mood
Your gut and brain are best mates. Around 90% of your serotonin - your “feel-good” hormone - is made in your gut. So if your gut is unhappy, your mood (and fibroids) can feel it.
Add probiotic and prebiotic foods like yoghurt, kefir, onions, garlic, and asparagus to help support your microbiome.
The Bottom Line
Living with fibroids can feel exhausting, especially when your pain is brushed off or you’re still waiting for answers from doctors. But there are things within your control - and working on your mood and energy is one of the most powerful.
As a Fibroids Health Coach, I help women reduce pain, manage symptoms, and rebuild confidence through food, stress balance, and lifestyle shifts that actually fit their lives.
